Our Story

The Kata Nori Hand Roll Bar is a new dining concept in downtown Kansas City, and it is the first of its kind in the city, focusing on the artistry of sushi hand rolls and crudos. We aim to bring a fresh and unique addition to Kansas City's culinary scene.

The design of Kata Nori Hand Roll Bar features a sleek and modern aesthetic, creating a hip, comfortable, and inviting atmosphere for diners. The seating arrangement consists of an intimate U-shaped counter, where patrons can watch as the sushi chefs prepare and present each roll individually. This setup allows for quick service and ensures maximum freshness, providing a taste of the chef-led omakase experience.

Heading the culinary team at Kata Nori is Chef Anh Pham, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Kansas City. With over 20 years of experience in the sushi industry, Chef Pham previously served as the lead chef at Uchi, a renowned sushi restaurant in Texas. His expertise and dedication to quality will contribute to the exceptional dining experience at Kata Nori.

The founders of Kata Nori Hand Roll Bar, Nam Phan and Kyung Kim, express their pride in being part of the Kansas City community and they believe that their commitment to quality, service, and their dedication to the city will set their establishment apart and make it a destination for food enthusiasts and sushi lovers from across the state.
